Kids clothing conspiracy

I have come to the conculsion that there is someone secretly watching for when I enter kids clothing stores and hiding all the clothes in my childrens sizes before I go in. I was in Babies R Us trying to buy new shoes for my son this weekend, he's 11 months old and I wanted a size 4 or 5. Every style of shoes had sizes up to 3 and over 5. Then we looked at the NY Giants clothing and they had up to 9 months and over 18 months. Nothing in the 12 months size I needed for my son. Simliar things occur when I am shopping for clothes in a 3T for my daughter.

Next time I need shoes or clothes for my kids I might try sending a friend to buy them for me. Hoping to fool the secret spies who are trying to mess with me :)

New items in Etsy store

I just listed this cute little charm set. I made a similar set in lilac and they sold real fast so I hope these do as well.

Graphic Designs Books

My first two design books have arrived, I will be posting my thoughts on them as I read them.

There's been a lot going on lately.

I finally have a day planner so I can get myself organized and make sure I make time for the kids, my business, study and housework. I have made some sales on Etsy recently so I may need to try and find more time for that.

We are moving forward with the sale of our old house so I will be able to start thinking about shopping again soon :).

Our son has started standing up by himself, he's so close to walking now, it goes so fast.

This weekend we have the mommies group annual picnic which should be really good fun. Only 2 more weekends and then it's Labor Day weekend, we set that time aside to do some intensive potty training for our daughter, she's almost 3 and it's time to say bye bye to diapers.

I am still waiting for the book I ordered about graphic design to come. I forgot to update Ebay with our new address so I will have to wait for it to be redirected. Shouldn't be long now. Then I have to make sure I take time each day for study. I will probably go to bed early and work up there away from the TV.

So that's about it for the moment. There is going to be lots to do in the coming weeks, both the kids have their birthdays at the end of next month. We're not going crazy but we will be having a little party for them both.

Summer is Still Here

I have decided to try out using my blog to promote other Esty sellers. I started by featuring a knitter last week and this week I am going to be giving you my six seller treasury list.

I call this treasury 'Summer is Still Here' most crafters are getting started on halloween and holiday items and I wanted to remind everyone that summer is not over yet.

Etsy Promotion - Stitch Markers

New items just listed in my Etsy store.

New stitch markers starting at $8.00

Moving Forward

Had a chat with my husband this weekend and he is in support of my wanting to study for a new career. We agreed on a $100 budget to get started. I am going to see what I can get for that money on Ebay. I am going to use any profits from my Etsy store to buy any additional materials over that $100. I know that's not a big investment but the biggest investment will be my time.

So here we go. 4 years to study graphic design and build a portfolio and have something rewarding to do while the kids are in school.

Wish me luck!!!

New Career

I am going to try and keep up with blogging about this and hopefully it will motivate me to keep going with it and hopefully fulfill a dream. I have always wanted to earn a living being creative and graphic design has always appealed. I have studied art and enjoy working with a computer so it seems like the perfect career for me. I have a long road to get to making a full time wage at it but hopefully over the next four years I can learn lots. I am going to go the self taught route as we just don't have the finances for me to study a college course. I am going to look in Ebay for software and books to gather as much knowledge as possible and see how things go.

I am still going to create for my Etsy store as I really enjoy doing that but hoepfully you guys that are following me will see a stay-at-home mom get herself into a fulfilling career by the time the kids are both in full time education.

Four years and counting, stay tuned!!!
Wow, it's been a long time since I blogged. Things are slow in the Etsy store but I have just signed up for Artfire. I have more to keep checking now but I will see how it goes running two store. I love making the paper beads and I am hoping to get a lot more made this weekend. I have a couple of ideas for some polymer clay creations, I'm going to have a try making them in the next few days and hopefully list if all goes well.

Moving House

Only 12 more days until we close on the new house. We bought a new refridgerator last night, I can't wait to be living at the new house. We close on the 27th and there are a million and one things to get done before then. I need to start making lists.

The Mets won last night, 2 games up now.

I have a bunch of new stuff to list in my Etsy store this weekend. I hope people like them, I'd like my sales to be at 20 before the end of the month.

New donut charms

Boston Cream

Dunkin Donuts is now research. Woo-hoo. I am just going to have to try a different kind each week. :o)

It's not going well so far. Lets hope they turn it around, there's plenty of season left. Rangers are done. Not a good day for sports in this house.

Polymer Clay

I am going to be making some charms using polymer clay. I am going to start simple then hopefully move on to some more detailed creations.

The donut are one of my first attempts. They are about 0.5 inches in diameter.
I am going to make a bunch in different colors and sell them for $4.00 a pair.

Thursday, April 9, 2009

I hope the glaze and bails come in the mail today, I can't wait to get the pendants made and up for sale on my website. I am hoping they sell well. If there is interest I'll invest a bit more money and get a bunch made for summer craft fairs etc. These are going to be totally customizable which should make them fun to make.

Mets v Reds Game 2

Wow, over 4 hours and what a nail bitter at the end. 2 runs up with bases loaded in the 9th. Thank goodness K Rod got out of that one. I can't face another season of blown saves. Mets are 2-0 now and the Yanks are 0-2. Love it!!!!

W: M. Pelfrey (1-0, 7.20); L: E. Volquez (0-1, 8.31); SV: F. Rodriguez (2) HR: NYM: C. Delgado (1). CIN: J. Votto (1).

Mets v Reds Game 2 (Season & Series)

Game 2 tonight, let's hope the Mets can make it another win, sweeping the opening series would be great.

Pelfrey v Volquez

Last nights TV - 4/7/09

Shows watched

American Idol
The Mentalist
House (DVR 4/6/09)

I'm so glad I was home last night and not relying on the DVR for Idol. I would have missed another great performance from Adam. I don't see how he isn't going to win this season. I think the bottom three this week should be Matt, Anoop and Scott. Hard to say who will go home, my choice would be Scott, it's wasn't a good song.

An average episode of the Mentalist, a bit too predictable for me though, the has been actress did it to save her dying career, so obvious.

90210, Looking forward to seeing what Tori Spelling can bring to this show, the Silver drama was all a bit boring. Adrianna is the most interesting character right now.

House, OMG!! Kutner gone. I have read a lot of disbelief about him being the one and how people would have liked to have seen the other characters killed off, I don't think they get it but that's why they would choose Kutner, it's much more dramatic to kill off a beloved character, it reminds me of when Dr. Beckett was killed off on Stargate Atlantis. It generates more conversations and more publicity for the show when people are so shocked. It was great tv.

I still have to watch Medium, Heroes, The Real Housewives of NY and Dollhouse. They are waiting on the DVR.

New jewelry coming soon

I'm excited about making scrabble tile pendants. I have the tiles and the pictures just waiting for the glaze and bails to arrive so that I can post them for sale on my website. kiraanndesigns.etsy.com. I'm still working on my own site, I have to find the time with the kids and trying to sell the house.

Day One

Decided to start a blog. There's a lot going on right now so this will be a nice record of how things unfold. The house is on the market and my jewelry making business is official. I really hope the house sells quickly so I can go back to having time and money for my business.
